Jogging And Running in The Rain

It can be a lot of fun to run in the rain but you have to know the various ways to prepare for rainy weather runs. Here are some tips you can use to help you run in your best wet-weather running clothes.

Should it be raining and cold, you may need to dress up in a few layers of clothes.  The most crucial is the first layer which is closest to your skin. When running, it is most recommended that you wear a polypropylene material such as Cool Max. The reason for this is that this type of fabric can wick off sweat and thus, remove that feeling of sticky wetness.  Otherwise, when you choose to wear a running gear that does not wick away sweat, you may shiver and chill while you run.
This is part of the reason why you must wear a wind-breaker and a water-resistant combination jacket as part of your running clothes most especially when it is raining. However, you must also be aware that wearing a water-resistant rain slicker tends to trap heat and moisture, too which might eventually cause some grave health problems if you overdo running in these clothes.
Wear a Hat While You Run
Running in the rain can be fun but can also be a bit dangerous.   To help keep the rain away from your face, wear a hat with you when you run. This will also eliminate or at least minimize your chances of stumbling or tripping while on the running tracks.
Do Not Overdo Your Running Gear
One of the more common mistakes a runner does is putting on more layers than he should. You must know they will not totally keep you dry after all.  And the heavier layers you have, the more you'll get soaked.  Running will be very difficult for with all those wet and heavy garments on you. The key is always to dress according to the temperature of the day. Check the weather condition before you decide on what apparel to wear for running.
Be Noticeable For Your Safety's Sake
It will be very helpful for a runner to select running clothes with reflective strips or at least are brightly colored. That way, even though the rain could go down on your face and occasionally give you inadequate visibility, you can avoid getting into accidents.
Don't Mind The Rain, Just Run And Run!
Indeed, runners say that the most interesting part of running happens when the rain is almost starting. The moment you start running, your body tends to warm up and you will eventually enjoy the run in spite of the rainfall. One good thing about it is that it trains you for future competitions.
Care for Your Running Shoes
At the end of a wet run, remove your running shoes immediately and stuff them with crumpled newspaper rolled into balls. Doing this will surely keep your shoes in good shape.  It also draws the moisture away from those wet running shoes.

Protect Your Electronics
Store electronics, such as your cell phone and iPod, in a ziplock bag or a water-proof carrier.
