Skin Caner


What is skin cancer?Skin cancer is the cancer that develops from the cells of the skin. It is caused due to excessive exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun.
What is non-melanoma? 
Non-melanoma, occurs in the basal or squamous cells. These are situation at the base of skin layer. Non-melanoma develops in regions that are more exposed to sunlight and rarely spread to other organs.

What is melanoma?Melanoma develops in melanin-producing melanocytes. It is usually curable when diagnosed in early stages.  It is more dangerous than other types of skin cancer but accounts for a small percentage of the total cases.
How many people are diagnosed with skin caner every year? Every year, more than one million people are diagnosed with skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and accounts for half of all cancer cases. Because of environmental changes more number of people is predicted to get skin cancer in the coming years.
How many die from skin cancer?Approximately, ten thousand people die from skin cancer every year. The number is steadily reducing due to improvements in treatment procedures and general user awareness.
What are the risk factors for getting skin cancer? The following are the risk factors for getting skin cancer:
–> Excessive exposure to UV ray of the sun
–> Fair skin complexion, light eyes
–> Family history of skin cancer i.e. a genetic history of skin cancer
–> Severe sunburns during childhood
