Types of Cancer in Women

Lung cancer claims more deaths than breast cancer in women and there are many other types of cancers, which can affect women. Some of the common types of this disease found in women are-


Lung cancer - Smoking has been a major cause of cancer in women in America and even non smokers may suffer from lung cancer. To prevent it, a woman should quit smoking and also stay away from passive smoking. Its symptoms are difficulty in breathing, change in voice, cough blood, and pain in chest and shoulder.


Breast cancer - It can be detected through mammograms and if you are aware of the symptoms of breast cancer, one can prevent its growth. If it is found early, it can be treated and women above forty years should go for regular screening through mammograms. Women who are above the age of forty are at a high risk of getting breast cancer and regular personal examination helps in early detection and it prevents spreading of the disease. There are different types: Invasive ductal carcinoma, ductal carcinoma in situ, invasive lobular carcinoma, recurrent breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer and others.


 Diagnosis. The doctor may diagnose the lymph nodes, hormone receptor and take a pathology test to find out about breast cancer. Regular personal physical examination of breasts is advised by doctors to detect it in an early stage. 
 Colon cancer - It is also called colorectal cancer, in which the intestine of the woman may cause cancer. It can be cured if it is detected early. In the screening of colorectal cancer, the precancerous polyps can be detected and removed. Women are more prone to colorectal cancer after the age of fifty. To cure it, the doctor may have to remove the infected part of colon to prevent the tumor from spreading. 
Gynecologic cancer- It refers to the cancer of the women's reproductive organs which includes vagina, vulva, uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes. There are many tests, which can be done to find out about the cancer and the doctor may examine the symptoms to diagnose gynecologic cancer.
 Pap test is one of the methods used to diagnose the growth of cervical cell and vaccination can be taken for infection such as human papillomavirus vaccine to protect against virus infections. It has been found that the risk of ovarian cancer increases with age and its risk decreases with pregnancy although; there are no specific symptoms of ovarian cancer. 



Common symptoms.  
                               
 1. Women may have symptoms such as upset stomach or pelvic pain, if she is suffering from ovarian cancer.
                               
2. Some types of the cancers may cause persistent coughs and fever.
                                
3. The woman may lose weight and have trouble in swallowing food. 
                                
4. Regular swellings in the lymph nodes and weakness can also indicate a serious health problem.
                               
5. If a bruise or cut is not healing, then it indicates a severe problem.


6. Change in the shape and color of breast are symptoms of breast cancer.
